Religious School

purim-kids-1

When was the last time someone catered to your schedule? When parents work long hours, and children have activities after school, it can be hard to fit everything in. We at Congregation B’nai Israel want to make it easier to give your child a Jewish education at a time and place that works for you. This schedule begins in September. Our religious school will meet twice a week. We will customize a one-hour session during the week to optimize your child’s experience, either on-line or in person. Then all students meet on Sunday mornings.

Choose Online or In-person during the week. Your child can zoom in (or Skype) if you prefer an on-line session during the week. Or your child can receive in-person instruction at the synagogue.  If your child learns better in a private setting, he or she can receive one-on-one instruction at the Rabbi’s home office which is next door to the synagogue.

A Time that Works for you–And Individualized Lessons. Weekday one-hour sessions can be arranged Monday, Tuesday or Thursday after school. Your child will have an individualized, one-on-one session with Rabbi Nebel. Study topics will include Hebrew reading, prayer and blessings.

Sundays: Meet as a Group. The religious school children will gather in person on Sunday mornings at the synagogue from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.   The children will practice fluency in Hebrew reading and prayer.  They will also learn about Jewish holidays and customs, Bible stories and Jewish history, Jewish values and ethics, Life cycle and Israel.  Our curriculum focuses on these subjects in an age-appropriate way and builds on learning from prior years.

We offer a variety of experiences throughout the year and use specialized techniques to teach the students about Judaism in a warm, meaningful and interesting environment.

We are delighted that many of our post-B’nai Mitzvah teens continue their Hebrew training by tutoring and assisting the younger students under the supervision of Rabbi Nebel.
